Ironically, my callsign 'Stinky' matched my own teenage thinking. I'll let imagination be your guide regarding how I received my callsign. Personally, my adolescence included a lot of stinkythinking. Negative self conscious thoughts, immaturity, and some emotionally challenging circumstances lead to a lot of risky behavior.
I grew up in South Miami to loving parents whose own relationship struggles ended in divorce around age 14. This was a turbulent time for me. However, tough love parenting and extended family mentoring helped me collect my thoughts. I was able to course correct late in my senior year gaining entry into the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School. Military Training Instructors (MTI's) took over mentoring from here. 10 years later with the help of many; I had reframed my stinkythinking into graduation; becoming a 2nd Lieutenant; completing pilot training and developing the confidence and courage to convince my high school sweetheart to marry me. We're passing 26 years of marriage and launching 4 children of our own.
Now entering the 'return' phase of a 'learn, earn, return' approach to life; I wanted to explore ways my experiences, mistakes and lessons learned could add value to others. Especially troubled teens like myself at the time. Through blog posts, stories, and shared experiences; I hope to serve others by reframing any stinkythinking into forward momentum regardless of circumstance.
I have many mentors to thank for shaping a sometimes misbehaved, angry, and anxious adolescent into an airman who became part of an amazing team of Air Force officers, airmen, instructors, civilians, and pilots. I'm here to listen, share the experiences you'll find in this website and help you create a game plan moving forward.
My thought process aims for your 'who' before targeting your 'what'. Let's CREATE your game plan and discuss InCentivE$ for CREATEing your way.
